Introduction
Welcome to Sift ("Sift," "we," "us" or "our"). Sift gives you a convenient way to share recipes and cooking ideas with fellow cooks so you can enjoy cooking more.
At Sift, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy describes how Simply Sift Inc. (“Sift”, “we” or “us”) will handle any personal information that it collects about you, as you use our websites (“Website” or “Site”), our mobile applications (“Apps”) or other services (together with the Site and Apps, “Services”). It describes what data we will collect, how we will use it, and whom we may share it with. By visiting and using our Services, you are accepting the terms in this policy and consenting to the practices outlined within.
We ask that you read this Privacy Policy carefully to understand our policies and practices regarding your information and how we will treat it. By using our Service you understand and agree that we are providing a platform for you to post content, including photos, comments and other materials ("User Content"), to the Service and to share User Content with those you choose to connect with, as well as potentially the users those users connect with. This means that other Users may search for, see, use, or share any of your User Content that you make available through the Service, consistent with the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy.
This Privacy Policy may change from time to time. If we make any changes, we will post the changes on this page and indicate at the top of this page the date the policy was last revised. We will also notify you of any material changes either through a pop-up notice, email or through other reasonable means. Any such changes are effective immediately when we post them, and apply to all access to and use of the Services thereafter. Your continued use of the Services after the date any such changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
Information We Collect and How We Collect Information
A. Information You Provide to Us
We may collect information you provide directly via the Services. The information you provide may include Personal Information. “Personal Information” is information that identifies you personally (whether alone or in combination). We may ask you for some or all of the following types of information when you register with our Services, submit comments and other content, order products, or directly contact us with questions or feedback:
- Your name, password and e-mail address when you register for a Sift account.
- Profile information that you provide for your user profile (e.g., first and last name, picture, phone number). This information allows us to help you or others be "found" on Sift.
- User Content (e.g., personal recipes, photos, notes, comments, and other materials) that you post to the Service.
- Communications between you and Sift. For example, we may send you Service-related emails (e.g., account verification, changes/updates to features of the Service, technical and security notices). Note that you may not opt out of Service-related e-mails.
B. Finding "Fellow Cooks" on Sift
In order to make it easy for you to connect with people you know and want to cook with on Sift, we collect certain information to make that possible.
- If you choose, you can use our "Find people on Sift" feature to locate other people with Sift accounts either through (i) your contacts list, (ii) third-party social media sites or (iii) through a search of names and usernames on Sift.
- If you choose to find your fellow cooks through (i) your device's contacts list, then Sift will access your contacts list to determine whether or not someone associated with your contact is using Sift.
- If you choose to find fellow cooks through a (ii) third-party social media site, then you will be prompted to set up a link to the third-party service and you understand that any information that such service may provide to us will be governed by this Privacy Policy.
- If you choose to invite someone to Sift through our "Invite people" feature, you may select a person directly from the contacts list on your device and send an email from your personal account. In the event you do use the "invite people" feature, or share a recipe with someone outside of Sift, Sift will not store this communication, but will store that user's email address to grant them access if they choose to join the Service. To the extent that you disclose to us any personal information of another individual, you represent that you have obtained such individual’s consent for the disclosure of such personal information, as well as the processing of the same in accordance with the terms of this Policy.
C. Things You Do on the App
We also collect information about how you use our Services or otherwise interact with us.
